With new matinee and encore packages, expanded competition categories, and options for online audiences, Sundance is preparing for a new chapter in Colorado from January 21–31, 2027.
A New Home for Sundance in Boulder
The Sundance Film Festival is preparing to begin a new chapter in Boulder, Colorado, with its 2027 edition scheduled for January 21–31. As the festival approaches its Colorado debut, organizers are introducing a range of passes and ticket packages designed to accommodate different viewing preferences and budgets.
In-person and online passes and packages go on sale October 15 at 9 a.m. PT, 10 a.m. MT, and noon ET through the official Sundance Film Festival ticketing website. Online viewing will be available to audiences in the United States and its territories.
The 2027 edition will feature an expanded program, with each of the four central competition categories—U.S. Dramatic, World Cinema Dramatic, U.S. Documentary, and World Cinema Documentary—growing to 12 films. Other sections, including Premieres, NEXT, Midnight, Family Matinee, and Offscreen, will also expand.
New Ticket Packages Offer More Ways to Attend
Among the additions for 2027 are two new in-person options: the Encore Ticket Package and the Matinee Ticket Package. They offer alternatives for festivalgoers who want to focus on repeat screenings or daytime showtimes.
The Encore Ticket Package, priced at $675, includes 10 in-person screenings from January 22–31, with early access to film selection.
