How do you create a social life that is better than 99% of people so that you can make the most out of the time you have outside of work? The best social lives are about deeper connections instead of constant invitations. Instead of FOMO, you are investing in relationships that add energy to your life and act as a force multiplier.

So what can you do to create a top 1% social life

Treat your social skills like an actual skill

Most people treat their social skills as a hobby. It’s just something that develops with time, but if you think about it, almost everything in life depends on your ability to be social with other people. If you have the right attitudes, ideas, values, and approaches, you can have an enormous impact on the relationships around you and ultimately get what you want. For this reason, it’s a good idea to specifically train to be more social and to learn what works for people. Discovering how they operate and what makes them tick can be a ticket towards a more successful life.

Become somebody who says yes but also has standards

Another top 1% strategy is to become somebody who says “yes” to low-friction social invitations but also has standards and boundaries. The people who socialize the best offer their friends and other relationships a 90-day window to be around them and see what they’re like. Then after that they make the decision as to whether they want to be closer to other people. This approach creates an “in” and an “out” club, allowing better filtering of the individuals in your life.

Another top tip is to go to high-value venues. Going to the places where the best people hang out is often the easiest way to be around individuals who are going to improve your life.

Where you go depends on your area. Usually, it’s related to the city you’re in. Often, you’ll know where people like to go and the types of individuals you’re likely to find. For example, the best strip club in your area might be a good place to meet business executives. Likewise, you might know a cafe that stays open late after work which is a good place to have intellectual conversations.

Master your introductions so people obsess over you

You could also try mastering your introduction so that people are more interested in you. The best way to do this is to use a combination of vulnerability and curiosity. This pairing is the ultimate hook and gets people more curious about you.

For example, most people will ask, “What do you do?” But a better way to approach this question is to be more excited about some random passion or what you did last weekend. When you have this type of energy, it draws people in and gets them to ask even deeper questions.

So there you have it, some of the ways to create a social life that is better than 99% of people.
