Stefan Burnett is the American rapper and visual artist known as MC Ride. His full name is Stefan Corbin Burnett, and he is the vocalist of the experimental hip hop group Death Grips. He is also a painter with his own art website. In 2026 he is still listed as an active member of Death Grips.
Burnett keeps his personal life very private. Last.fm’s biography describes him as intensely private, with little known about his personal life. That is why searches for his age, net worth and tattoos often return thin or conflicting answers.
This article separates what is documented from what is rumor. It covers his early life, his Fyre days, Death Grips, his paintings and his latest news. It also explains why some searches, such as Beyoncé, Mii, religion and military, have no reliable answer.

During his pre-fame years he worked at two Sacramento food businesses while pursuing painting. Details about his parents and wider family are not publicly documented. This article does not guess at them.
Fyre and the Mxlplx Years
Before Death Grips, Burnett rapped under a different name. He performed as Mxlplx and formed a hip hop trio called Fyre with his brother and another Sacramento rapper. The group released a project titled Fyre X in 2000.
The project ended after his brother got married and could no longer continue with the group. Searches for “Stefan Burnett Fyre” or “Fyre Stefan Burnett” point to this group. It has no connection to the Fyre Festival.
How Death Grips Started
Death Grips formed in Sacramento in the summer of 2010 with Zach Hill, Stefan Burnett and Andy Morin. Burnett took the name Ride that year. Hill had earlier drum credits with the band Hella.
Rolling Stone described him in 2012 as a visual artist with a little-known musical past, with a delivery like hardcore punk blended with spoken word. That raw style helped define the group’s reputation.

Burnett’s paintings are acrylic works in a dark palette. Artnet described a color range of deep blue, gray and black, with moody and morbid subjects. Many viewers read them as a companion to his lyrics.
