How To Craft A Luxurious Garden

Crafting a luxury garden is something that a lot of people dream of doing but never get around to. It’s in their imagination, but making it a reality seems like a lot of work. Unlike other luxury items, it isn’t something you can order off the internet.

So, what is the key to a luxurious garden? How can you make it happen on your property?

Let’s find out.

Envision Your Grand Design

First, you’ll want to start by envisioning your grand design. You should have a clear image of what you want your luxury garden to look like from the outset.

This step is often the most challenging because it requires you to really think about how you’d like to proceed. Grand designs can be fun, but they are also challenging to perfect.

If you can, treat the luxury outdoor space similarly to indoor areas. Think of different zones as “rooms” and how they all connect. For example, you might set up one room as the patio and another as the lawn or stepped garden.

Invest In The Best Materials

Next, you’ll want to think about investing in the best materials. The more money you plow into these, the more impressive the final result will be.

For example, you could use natural stone, wrought iron, or even woods that can survive long-term outdoors, like teak. These create a striking first impression.

Add A Statement Water Feature

You should also consider whether you want to add a statement water feature. Most luxury gardens have one, partly for the grandeur it offers, but also because it feels relaxing at the same time.

The shape your water feature takes depends on the type of luxury garden you want to construct. It could be an infinity pool, a 50-foot fountain, or a pond for koi.

Most people put water features in the center of luxury gardens. However, it is sometimes nice to put them in a corner or at the edge if they form part of a separate hideaway.

Use Tech Where Necessary

These days, it’s okay to use tech to craft a luxurious garden–you don’t need to do everything by hand.

For example, you could invest in:

  • Outdoor sound systems that wirelessly send your playlist to your patio
  • Rain-sensitive awnings that cover you if it starts spitting
  • Tools that work without mains power, like the Worx mini chainsaw
  • Phone-based controls for garden irrigation or fountains

These days, you can use tech in more ways than you might expect, so there’s always something you could add to your luxury garden. Moreover, you can also control these features from your phone, so you don’t usually need to worry about separate remotes.

Add Ambient Lights

Adding ambient lights is also a strategy to create a more luxurious garden. These additions generate new visual layers at night, helping the space come alive and delighting you and your guests.

You can place lighting:

  • Besides any decking
  • Under your raised sections and beds
  • Beside your pathways and walkways
  • Around the edges of your decking
  • Around trees

Once you start adding lights, you’ll notice that it changes the theme and atmosphere of the space. However, don’t go overboard. You don’t want it to start looking like a theme park

Add Art And Sculptures

Once all these basics are out of the way, the next step is to add art and sculptures. These are essentially what transform a regular outdoor space into something extraordinary and highly luxurious.

Obviously, if you have the budget, you’d commission an artist to craft a sculpture for you to place in your garden. You can provide them with a brief, including the materials you want them to use. Alternatively, you could buy an antique statue or a new one from a store (although these are likely mass-fabricated).

Create A Lavish Seating Area

While you’re doing all this, you also want to think about where you’ll sit and enjoy your time outdoors. The more lavish and attractive you can make this, the better.

Seating areas can be built into walls and concrete, but you need to be careful they don’t become too austere. The best option is to add a pergola and some plush seating made from materials designed to withstand outdoor weather.

If you can include lavender, emerald, or sapphire colors in the design, that’s even better. These make the whole setup feel more regal.

Add A Fire Pit

Finally, if you’re the sort of person who enjoys keeping warm, adding a fire pit is also useful. One made of stone should complement a luxury garden space perfectly.

If you don’t like the idea of a fire pit, you could also invest in an outdoor fireplace or even a row of tiki torches.
