Must-Have Car Accessories for Your Next Road Trip

A road trip requires plenty of planning and preparation. Everything you do to ensure a smooth and successful ride is key, which is where your accessories come in.

There are plenty of must-have car accessories for your next road trip, whether you have a modern car that’s just rolled off the manufacturing line, or one that’s seen a lot of the road over the years.

The must-have car accessories will make your road trips much more enjoyable. With that being said, here are some accessories that are worth spending the money on and kitting your car out for this year.

A car vacuum cleaner

It’s often the case on the rare occasion that you get your car serviced and valeted, the next week it looks like you’ve not cleaned it in over a year. Throw some kids into the car and you’ve got a breeding ground for bacteria and all manner of food crumbs that have fallen into the floor wells of the car.

That’s why a handheld, car vacuum cleaner is a great addition to your car’s cleaning kit. Before you go off on your travels, you ideally want to have a clean car that’s free of dirt and debris.

With a car vacuum cleaner, you don’t need to worry about plugging it into an electrical outlet before wheeling it out onto your driveway. A handheld one is going to make it easier to navigate the interior cabin without causing any damage but being able to get into the crevices and small gaps where needed.

Dash cams

Dash cams are a great one to have when it comes to protecting yourself on the road. While it might not prevent you from crashing or having an accident, it can certainly record everything that’s on, on the road ahead of you, and often behind if you have a camera fixed to the back too.

With a dash cam, there’s peace of mind that while you’re traveling, your road trip is being recorded. Hopefully, you won’t encounter any trouble but if you do, then the dash cam can provide you with some peace of mind that any problems have been captured in 4K!

There are a lot of car accessories that are worth purchasing ahead of your road trip, and this is a must-have.

An emergency kit

Emergency kits are more useful and appreciated when you’re in a situation where it’s desperately needed. The thought of packing one seems like an effort but it’s something that can be a life-saver, both for yourself and for your car.

An emergency kit should be kept for both the purpose of your car and also for anyone traveling in it. It’s always good to have a few emergency items that might help fix your car if you’ve broken down.

At the same time, you also want to keep an emergency first aid kit, should you or a passenger become injured. Whether it’s just a scratch or a heavy bleeding limb, it’s good to have an emergency kit on hand, especially when you’re out in the sticks or in a place that isn’t your usual place to go.

A car phone mount for navigation

While you’re busy driving, you want as little distraction as possible. A car phone mount is a great one for navigating without needing to have the phone in your hand, your lap, or otherwise not in a fixed position.

With car phone mounts, they’re cheap enough to purchase and can be great for keeping your phone in a fixed position while you follow the SAT navigation in front of you. Not only that but they can be helpful for when you need to charge your phone while still using it for traveling.

It’s a small accessory but one that can make a big difference to the success of your road trip, however long or short it might be.

Power bank for electronics

Talking of helpful accessories, a power bank is an absolute must-have. Power banks are great at providing that extra bit of juice for your electronics, especially for those electronics that have a habit of running out of battery a mere few hours after being at full charge.

Power banks are the go-to for anyone traveling even if via car where there’s usually a charging point available.

With power banks, come in all different shapes and sizes, so it’s worthwhile getting a few so that you have plenty of available charges ready to keep all the little ones entertained – and the big children for that matter too.

Car organizers or bins

When it comes to car accessories, organizers are an important part of the car’s interior cabin. Often on long or short road trips, you can have things thrown all over the place and that can cause chaos within the cabin – especially if there’s not a great deal of room available.

Car organizers and bins are great for keeping everything where it should be, but also providing a place to put all the rubbish that would otherwise be strewn all over the floor.

Digital tire pressure gauge

A useful tool to have in your car’s trunk or in the passenger dashboard cubby is a digital tire pressure gauge. This is great for when you’re going on a long car trip and want to know how pumped up your tires are.

Roof box

And finally, a roof box. This is the additional storage that your car might need in order to get everything in or on the car for the trip ahead. Not all cars come with a spacious trunk space, so it’s good to have the option of the roof box on top of the car’s roof.

You can fit quite a bit within the roof box, but it’s worth remembering that a roof box will affect the stability and control that you have with your car.

These accessories are just a few of many to have in your car, so make sure you have them ready for your next road trip.
