The Top 3 Luxury 4x4s Of 2024

The SUV takeover is in full effect. Everywhere you turn, at least five SUVs are trundling down the road on either side of you. They’ve become trendy family cars due to their space and practicality. Every manufacturer has at least one big SUV in its ranks, but are they the right vehicles if you wish to partake in some off-roading?

Modern SUVs are built for comfort more than ruggedness, so off-road enthusiasts must turn their attention elsewhere. You need a big ol’ 4×4 – but which one should you buy? We’ve picked the top three luxury 4x4s of 2023 to show you what’s out there!

Land Rover Defender

We can’t talk about off-roading luxury cars without mentioning the Land Rover Defender. Here, you have an exquisite 4×4 that works just as well off-road as it does on it. There’s a sleekness and class to this that completely does away with the Defender’s old forceful nature. By all means, this is still an absolute brute, but it’s more refined and capable of completing the school run without trampling over nearby parked cars.

The Land Rover Defender is draped in luxury and high-tech solutions, such as sensors around the vehicle to give a 360-degree view when parking in tight spaces. Despite looking like an executive businessman’s favourite daily drive, it can traverse through deep fords and climb mountains with no issues at all. There’s even a plug-in hybrid version that does all of this without guzzling too much gas.

INEOS Grenadier

INEOS Automotive is something of an unknown brand when compared to the other two names on this list. It was only formed in 2017, yet it had one key ambition: to create the “spiritual successor” to the Land Rover Defender.

We’ve got a Defender on our list, but the Grenadier is designed to be more rugged – just like the original Land Rover. It’s robust and specifically made for off-roading. You can clamber over any terrain while enjoying some luxury home comforts. You’ll find an INEOS Grenadier for sale with innovative Pathfinder Off-Road Navigation to plan and share your off-roading routes with others. They come equipped with big touchscreen infotainment as well, combined with luxury fitted seats. It’s the perfect blend of rugged meets luxurious.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Mercedes-Benz is renowned for quality German engineering – and the G-Class is a sumptuous expression of this. The interior has faux-leather seats, hardwood panelling and a big long screen on the dash. It has all the tech features of top-line luxury cars, such as seat heating and rear screens for back passengers.

All the while, the car is capable of 0-60 in just over 6 seconds with up to 330 bhp. It’s an absolute beast – and you can drive it across fields or on rocky terrain. This is the type of vehicle celebrities rock around in. It feels like something you can imagine world leaders speeding around in with the Secret Service protecting them. The G-Class is a statement car, that’s for sure.

Truth is, loads of luxury 4x4s have started popping up thanks to the popularity of SUVs. You’ll have many to choose from, but you can’t go wrong with any of these three.
