There is just one problem: The warehouse in New Jersey is empty. The inventory is actually in Nevada, and it’s reserved for a different client. The AI didn’t just make a mistake; it lied. It hallucinated a reality that sounded plausible but was factually wrong.
In that moment, the magic breaks. The trust evaporates. The project is shelved.
But here is the twist: The AI didn’t lie because it is stupid. It lied because it is blind. The failure wasn’t in the artificial intelligence; it was in the corporate memory. If the AI is asked about inventory, it shouldn’t guess. It should be able to trigger an API call to the ERP, fetch the live number, and then generate the answer. The AI becomes the interface; the integration becomes the intelligence.
The “Swivel Chair” Automation
