Top 10 Reel Strategies

An elegant watch store interior with display cases showcasing luxury watches and informative posters on the walls.

As an influencer, I’m always trying to beat the Instagram algorithm. Here are some tips and tricks and making that reel get the biggest reach.

  1. Tell a story about:
  • One thing I learned the last year that I just need to share
  • I am … but I am also… (for example: I’m an athlete, but I’m also a gamer!)
  • How I became a… (runner, gymnast, etc)
  • Things you didn’t know about me
  • Things that every athlete can relate to

  1. A day in the life as a… (or something specific, like your morning routine or bedtime schedule): Share a few clips of your day we wouldn’t normally see.
  2. Show us how to do something: For example, create a Reel breaking down how to achieve a particular skill or how to recover after exercise
  3. How it started vs how it’s going: Sharing before and after clips can be fun and satisfying to watch.
  4. Create a listicle reel: What are your three favorite workouts in the gym? What are your preferred foods to eat after a workout?
  5. Reply to a comment with a Reel: Find a frequently asked question or common comment under a past post, and reply with a Reel!
  6. Put it to a vote: Use the voting sticker to have your audience decide something for you, such as which workout do you find harder or which workout location is preferred?
  7. 3 things you should know about…: Share some unusual facts about your sport or yourself!
  8. Reality check: Share some moments of what the viewers see vs. what it’s actually like behind-the-scenes.
  9. Myth busting… debunk a common misconception!
